A Common Canine Disease
Parvovirus (also referred to as "Parvo") is a highly contagious and serious disease stemming from a virus that infects the gastrointestinal of any aged dog. It can also cause damage to the heart muscles in very young and unborn pups.
Some signs of infection are lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, fever and quite often, bloody diarrhea. Parvo acts quickly, usually killing its victim within 48 to 72 hours after the onset of clinical signs. Vomiting and diarrhea will also cause your pup to become severely dehydrated.
Common sense, along with needed vaccinations are critical areas in keeping your furry human Parvo free. Hygiene is also important. Never allow your dog to come in contact with the fecal matter of other dogs while out for walks. Prompt and proper removal of waste matter is another way to limit the spread of the Parvovirus!
Not a fertilizer!
Contrary to popular belief, dog poop is NOT a good fertilizer, in fact, it's quite the opposite. Soil degradation will occur wherever dog poop is allowed remain! There are also risks to human health because of the potential diseases carried in dog waste. Remember: doggie poop is NOT like that of a cow or horse!
